Born in Portugal, where he then learned Latin and having, as a Franciscan, moved to service in Italy, Saint Anthony of Padua, one of the most venerated Saints in Christian Prayer, hears not only those many needs and hopes and wishes from those who seek Him but, along with them, the appreciation with which GOD'S BLESSINGS are so perfectly received. Saint Anthony is often pictured holding a lily, the flower that speaks to us in many colors, in continual beauty and lovely, meaningful spirituality. The yellow calla lily, specifically, opens graciously in bloom as a symbol of gratitude. How very perfectly it speaks to Saint Anthony in many languages where he is LOVED around the world and loudly in the three in which he was well-versed and a passionate orator: Obrigado! Gratia! Grazie! Thank you Saint Anthony!
